Domain authority: score a site's search strength

Domain Authority gives a root domain an authority score, along with its rank, organic traffic, keyword counts and what that traffic would be worth to buy. Use it to qualify a link prospect, compare competitors or triage a long list of domains.

What it tells you

  • An authority score for the domain, and a rank that places it against other sites.
  • An estimate of the organic search traffic the domain receives.
  • How many organic keywords it ranks for, and the dollar value of that traffic if you had to pay for it.
  • Whether the domain runs paid ads, plus its paid keyword count, paid traffic and the share of its traffic that is paid.
  • Whether a record for the domain was found at all.

What you need to provide

One input: the root domain you want scored, for example "stripe.com".

What it costs

10 credits per lookup. Live per-product costs are shown on the Billing page in your dashboard.

How to run it

  • In the dashboard: Domain Authority
  • From your code: POST /v1/domain-authority, then see the Developer Hub at app.1lookup.io/developer-hub.

Good to know

  • Traffic, traffic value and keyword counts are estimates of search performance, not figures taken from the site's own analytics.
  • If the lookup reports the domain as not found, there is no record for it and you will not get scores back. Check that flag before reading the rest.
  • Results are point-in-time. Rankings and traffic move week to week, so re-run before you act on an old result.
  • Domain SEO Intelligence returns authority, backlink counts and traffic estimates in one call if you want the wider picture.
  • The paid fields are useful on their own: they tell you whether a site is buying traffic as well as earning it, which changes how you read the traffic number.
