Reverse phone lookup: find the person behind a number

A reverse phone lookup takes a US phone number and returns the person on record behind it, with their name, address and email where available. Use it to put a name to an inbound number, or to fill gaps in records that only hold a phone number.

What it tells you

• Whether a person was matched to the number.
• The first and last name on the record.
• The street address, city, state and ZIP on the record.
• An email address, when one is on the record.

What you need to provide

• The phone number to look up, for example "2125550001". Required.
• Optionally, which data source to use with lookup_source: "standard" or "premium". It defaults to "standard".

What it costs

10 credits per lookup on the standard source. You pick the source per request with lookup_source. Standard costs 10 credits and reads caller ID records only, which return a name for a minority of numbers. Premium costs 25 credits and reads the full consumer database, with the best name coverage. Either way, a lookup that does not match is free. Live per-product costs are shown on the Billing page in your dashboard.

Good to know

• US numbers only. A Canadian or Caribbean number is never sent to the data sources: it comes back as no match, marked as outside coverage with the region the area code belongs to, and a message saying so. Those lookups are not charged.
• Because out-of-coverage is flagged separately, you can tell a coverage gap apart from a genuine miss on a US number.
• Results are point-in-time. People move, change numbers and change email addresses, so a record can be out of date by the time you read it.
• This is personal data about an identifiable person. Use it for legitimate business purposes only.
