Social search: find profiles and posts by keyword

Search a social platform for a keyword and get back a page of public profiles and content that match. Use it to build a shortlist of creators in a niche, or to see who is posting about a topic.

What it tells you

  • How many results came back for your keyword.
  • The handle of each matching profile or piece of content.
  • The name shown on each result.
  • A short description or caption for each result.
  • The follower count on each result.
  • A link to the result, where one is available.

What you need to provide

  • The platform to search. Pick one of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest or Reddit.
  • The keyword or phrase to search for, for example "running coach".

What it costs

5 credits per lookup. This one is success-based: you are charged 0 credits when nothing is found. Live per-product costs are shown on the Billing page in your dashboard.

How to run it

  • In the dashboard: Social Search
  • From your code: POST /v1/social-search, then see the Developer Hub at app.1lookup.io/developer-hub.

Good to know

  • You get one page of results per lookup, not the platform's entire index. Narrow the keyword if the page you get back is too broad.
  • Results are point-in-time. The same keyword run tomorrow can return a different set, in a different order.
  • One platform per lookup. To cover several, run the same keyword against each platform separately.
  • For an Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Threads handle that matters to you, run Social Profile Check on it for a fuller picture than a search row gives.
  • Some fields, including the result URL, can come back empty.
  • Results describe real people and their public content. Use them for legitimate business purposes only.
